Fred Spagnoletti graduated from Michigan Tech in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Before graduation he accepted a position with Rocketdyne, with whom he had interviewed while at Tech. His first assignment was at their test site in the Santa Susana mountains northwest of Los Angeles on the turbo pump for the F-1 rocket engine. Tom McKie began his mechanical engineering education in 1941, enlisted in the Navy Air Corps in World War II, and returned to Michigan Tech after completing his military service in 1945 to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. His cell phone area code is still 906, reflecting his Upper Peninsula roots, but Rob Waara’s role as chief engine engineer with the SRT Viper racing team has taken him far afield, including to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. That endurance race meant some incredible hours for the engineers prepping the two Vipers: 24 to 40 hours straight, just like the race. And he’s still busy. "I’ve had three weekends . . .

Maurice "Morry" M. Taylor (BSME ’68) was first employed by General Motors as a mechanical engineer in Saginaw. A few years later he joined Morweld Steel Products and, in 1972, became part owner of the American Steel Impact Corp. in Detroit. Then, in 1974, he started Maurice Taylor amp; Associates and was a representative for steel products manufacturers. In 1983, Morry became President/CEO of CanAM Industries. . . .
