Only at Michigan Tech can the start of a great engineering career begin with being a Zamboni driver. When Jon was growing up in Hancock, the decision to attend Michigan Tech was an easy one. "My dad worked at Michigan Tech, and I was interested in math and science, so it was the logical choice…it is  right across the bridge!"  Being a long time hockey fan helped seal the deal, especially when he got the job to drive . . .

Ralph Hayden graduated in 1933 with a BS in mechanical engineering, with honor. Following graduation he was first employed by the Carrier Corporation, which he later left to join the Foxboro Company, a manufacturer of industrial instruments for processing industries, in 1937. He was elected vice president in 1962, became a member of the board of directors in 1964, and president and chief executive officer in 1968. . . .

Lou Anne and Fred Koerschner both graduated from Michigan Tech in 1981—Lou Anne with a BS in Chemical Engineering and Fred with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Both went on to distinguished careers. Charles Cronenworth earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with honor from Michigan Tech in 1944. After graduation and serving in World War II, he was a research design engineer with Chrysler Corp. in Detroit. In 1947, he joined the Diamond Crystal Salt Co. as a design draftsman.
