The new class of engineering students assembled in the Rozsa Center Performance Hall to hear a speech by Michigan Tech alumnus David House on September 4th, first day of classes. He shared his engineering experiences from a 47 year career.

John Soyring was the keynote speaker at the Mechanical Engineering - Engineering Mechanics Department Senior Awards Banquet on April 17, 2012. After graduating from Michigan Tech with a BSEE in 1976, the L'Anse, Michigan native John Soyring joined IBM. During his 36 career with IBM, he has held a variety of technical, professional, managerial and executive positions within the company.

Marie Cleveland ’82 loves her job. As a worldwide corporate account manager for Federal Express, she handles six major accounts and is responsible for bringing in $50 million in sales each year. “We believe in helping clients in any way we can,” she says, “which often involves finding innovative solutions to improve their bottom lines.” This freedom to think and act outside the box is one of Cleveland’s favorite aspects of the position. Mr. Zentner started his career at General Motors and worked in Advanced Engineering as well as Product Development. Throughout his career at General Motors he was promoted into various positions. Upon leaving General Motors, Ed became a Director of Engineering where he had responsibility for Manufacturing, Quality, Product Design, Tooling and various other Engineering functions for a Tier-1 automotive supplier. He holds three U.S. patents and is a recognized leader in Personal Development and Leadership. He left his automotive engineering career in 2004 and now speaks across the country to tens of thousands of people on the importance of Leadership, People Skills and ongoing Personal Development. He is an entrepreneur and leadership coach, where he works with others to help them attain the skills necessary to accomplish their goals and dreams. The event is an informal, but competitive Winter Baja race held on a motocross-style track made out of snow! It was at Lake Linden, Michigan at the Public Park There were 2 Endurance Races

Students Break 1,000 mpg in SAE Supermileage Competition Students Break 1,000 mpg in SAE Supermileage Competition
Michigan Tech's team surprised everyone last weekend by wringing a whopping 1,140 miles per gallon out of their low, sleek, custom-made vehicle in the 2009 SAE Supermileage competition.
The effort was enough to earn them a silver in the 25-team field in just their second year at the event, held June 4-5 at the Eaton Corporation Marshall Proving Grounds, in Lower Michigan.
