Mary received her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences in 1983, a second bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1991, and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1993. Following her "First" graduation, Mary worked as a high school math teacher in Stephenson, MI and then as a computer science teacher at Menominee High School. After returning to Tech and receiving her next two degrees, . . .

John Drake is serious about giving back to his alma mater. He attributes his success in large part to "the training and rigor of a Michigan Tech education with its insistence on understanding." Drake earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1964 and a master’s in business administration in 1969. "Nobody was better prepared to understand and solve problems than Tech grads were," he says. . . .

"A well-respected education in engineering and the unique location made Michigan Tech an easy choice. The UP has always been a place I considered special." In his Dynamic Controls class, Dennis Grumm ’05 was given the opportunity for extra credit by solving a calculus problem based on the origins of Bode plots. "I learned a lot about problem solving with that assignment; somewhere in the middle of a couple pages . . .

Timothy P. Coffield earned his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, with high honors, from Michigan Technological University in 1984. He has also completed a business degree from University of Colorado.  After graduating from Michigan Tech, Tim went to work as a research engineer for five years at IBM Research in Rochester, MN.  Following that he was the principal engineer amp; business group manager at Cacade . . .
