Bill Hartwick graduated with honor in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. While a student at Michigan Tech he was elected a member of Tau Beta Pi and played varsity football. In 1978 Elzbieta graduated from Technical University of Wroclaw, Poland with a master's degree in Civil Engineering. While at Michigan Tech, she earned two degrees. A master's in Civil Engineering in 1981 and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering amp; Engineering Mechanics in 1985. After completing his doctoral degree in structural mechanics at Michigan Tech, Vijay K. Sazawal (PhD ’75) joined Westinghouse Electric Corporation in the Advanced Reactors Division as part of the design and technology team working on the Clinch River Breeder Reactor Project. Rebecca graduated from Tech in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. Upon leaving Tech she worked at Kaman Aerospace in Broomfield, CT for two years. She then took a position with Sikorsky Aircraft and remained with Sikorsky as a consultant while starting Ufkes Engineering after a move to South Carolina in 1990.
