A Michigan Tech ME Senior Design Team "Winrobo" (Team 20) won the Regional Student Design Competition at the Student Professional Development Conference held in Columbia, Missouri on March 28-30, 2008.
The ME Senior Design Team's robotic window washer, called Frank Jr., took first prize by finishing washing the bottom pane of the his window and then pulled himself onto the upper pane, drawing grasps, "wows",and applause from the audience to earn first place.
First prize consists of $500, a first place trophy, and a $1200 stipend to move on to the Final Competition at the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Convention and Exposition (IMECE) in Boston, MA in November.
The team consisted of ME seniors Mark Cihlar, Brad Howard, Nate Kroodsma, and Andy Timmons. The senior design team advisor is Dr. William J. Endres.
