Richard Bayer
'44Dick Bayer earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with honor from Michigan Tech in 1944. Three years later, he joined the Michigan Tech faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. During succeeding years he was promoted to associate professor and full professor. He retired in 1983, after 37 years of service. Donald G. Wheatley went to work for General Motors in 1963. He worked on the guidance systems doing vibration and fatigue analysis for the Apollo project. Out of the sixty new hires on the project, he was the only one remaining at the end. He also did some work on the main battle tank.
