Molli Andor

Attending a Women in Engineering summer camp at Michigan Tech was the driving factor in Molli Andor enrolling as a student a year later. "I fell in love with the Keweenaw's natural beauty," she said. "Campus is positioned near so many prime outdoor locations to explore. Plus, spending the week on campus opened up my eyes to the engineering opportunities available." Molli earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2015. . . .

John Hallquist earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering, magna cum laude, from Western Michigan University in 1970. He received an M.S. degree in Engineering Mechanics from Michigan Tech in 1972. He continued his advanced education from Michigan Tech and earned a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Mechanics in 1974. John joined the weapons laboratory at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) . . .

Merrily Madero

'85

Colonel Merrily Madero ('85) has been using the problem solving skills she initially learned as a mechanical engineering student at Michigan Tech to solve problems around the world. Recently she was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for leading the Military Liaison unit at the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan during multiple attacks. She also supported the US Embassy during fifty-three outside-the-wire missions in twenty . . .

James Gerdeen

James Gerdeen '59

Dr. James C. Gerdeen (BSME '59) retired as Professor and Department of Mechanical Engineering Chair from the University of Colorado - Denver. After graduation, Jim worked in industry before completing his MS in 1962 from Ohio State University and later his PhD from Stanford in 1965, both in mechanical engineering. He returned to Michigan Tech as a faculty member from 1968 to 1989. He received his M. Divinity, Theology, . . .
