Tom McKie began his mechanical engineering education in 1941, enlisted in the Navy Air Corps in World War II, and returned to Michigan Tech after completing his military service in 1945 to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation in 1947 he joined the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company. In 1953 he joined Beloit Corporation in their engineering division and enjoyed a thirty-three . . .

John Drake is serious about giving back to his alma mater. He attributes his success in large part to "the training and rigor of a Michigan Tech education with its insistence on understanding." Drake earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1964 and a master’s in business administration in 1969. "Nobody was better prepared to understand and solve problems than Tech grads were," he says. . . .

Dick Bayer earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with honor from Michigan Tech in 1944. Three years later, he joined the Michigan Tech faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. During succeeding years he was promoted to associate professor and full professor. He retired in 1983, after 37 years of service. In addition to his career at Michigan Tech, he also served as an officer in the U.S. Army combat engineering . . .

Rebecca graduated from Tech in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. Upon leaving Tech she worked at Kaman Aerospace in Broomfield, CT for two years. She then took a position with Sikorsky Aircraft and remained with Sikorsky as a consultant while starting Ufkes Engineering after a move to South Carolina in 1990.
