Robert Thresher
Bob Thresher earned a B.S. Mechanical Engineering from MTU
in 1962. He returned to MTU after working for the Boeing Company
to receive a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1967, followed
by a Ph.D. from Colorado State University in 1970. After completing
his doctorate, he worked as a Program Manager for the U.S.
Department of Energy in Washington D.C. He then spent four
years as an assistant professor of mechanical engineering
at Oregon State University and was the Acting Director of
the Energy Research and Development Institute. Currently he
serves as Director of the National Wind Technology Division
of the National Renewable Energy Lab in Golden, Colorado.
Thresher is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical
Engineers, and is a member of the International Solar Energy
Society, National Society of Professional Engineers, ASME,
and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
He holds one patent and has over 70 technical publications
and reports. He is a registered professional engineer in the
state of Colorado.
