Burt was instermental in many historic and civic organizations including the
establishment of the U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame in Ishpeming, Preserving
the Quincy Mine in Hancock, Directing the Carp River Forge Association, and
being a Scoutmaster to the Boy Scouts. Burt also was involved in countless
other groups and organizations.
The Cliffs Shaft Mine however was a true success. Burt knew that the mine property had to be saved for future generations. He is the reason the mine is here today. We were proud to give Burt the honor of opening the property to tourism on June 29th 2002. After he guided its handover on September 19th, 1998 from CCI. This mine will stand in recognition of one mans foresight in historcal preservation. |
