MTU Alpine Ski Team Takes 2nd, 8th at Lacrosse Cup.

Over the weekend the Women and Men of the Michigan Tech Alpine Ski Team competed at Mt LaCrosse in Wisconsin with Limited Squads.

The Women's team took a 8th place in both the Slalom And Giant Slalom to finish 8th out of 12 teams for the weekend. Top finisher for the women was Julie Tipner in the Slalom with a 34th place and Renee Mallory in the GS with a 30th place. With only half a team the women did quite well. LaCrosse is a difficult mountain and it really helped their skiing. Their skiing will definitely improve on easier terrain. St.Oalf won for the Women.

The MTU Men's Team took third in the Slalom, again fielding a limited team. On Sunday the team took 2nd in the GS which was reduced to one run after safety was compromised because of a lack of light. Top finisher for MTU was DJ Longhini with a 2nd place in the Slalom and George Peet with a 4th in the Giant Slalom. Wining the event for the men was St. Olaf College.

This coming weekend the Tech Alpine Ski Team will host a College race at Mont Ripley. The races start at 10:00am Saturday and Sunday and will go until Approximately 2:00pm.

The Michigan Tech Alpine Ski Team is a club level sport at Tech but competes against many Varsity Teams in the United States Collegiate Snowsport Association.
