MTU Alpine Ski Team Takes 2nd, 6th at Hardscrabble Race.
Over the weekend the Women and Men of the Michigan Tech Alpine Ski Team competed at HardScrabble mountain in Wisconsin
The Women's team took a 6th place in both the Slalom And Giant Slalom to finish 6th out of 12 teams for the weekend. Top finisher for the women was Jessica Erber with a 23rd place in the Slalom and a 25th place in the GS. The Team Showed much improvement from the first race. Having a little more skiing under their belts definitely helped out. Northern Michigan won for the Women
The MTU Men's Team took third in the Slalom after Slalom Ace DJ Longhini had difficulty and had to Hike. He joined the other team members in switching to the new shorter slalom skis and had not gotten used to them yet. On the second run however he had the tenth fastest time, proving that once he does get used to the skis he should be very fast. On Sunday the team took 2nd in the GS placing 5 people in the top 17. Top finisher for MTU was Chris Dehlin with a 6th place in the Slalom and a 4th in the Giant Slalom. Wining the event for the men was St. Olaf College.
Michigan Tech will have 4 quality days of training at Mont Ripley this week and then compete at LaCrosse Mountain next weekend.
The Michigan Tech Alpine Ski Team is a club level sport at Tech but competes against many Varsity Teams in the United States Collegiate Snowsport Association.
