MTU Alpine Ski Team Takes 1st, 5th at Tibbet's Memorial Cup.

Over the weekend the Women and Men of the Michigan Tech Alpine Ski Team competed at the Tibbet's Memorial Cup at Afton Alps Ski Hill In Minnesota.

The Women's team took a 5th place in both the Slalom And Giant Slalom to finish 5th out of 10 teams for the weekend. The team was ranked 18th in the Nation in the Preseason Coaches Poll. Top finisher for the women was Jessica Erber with a 15th place in the Slalom and a 10th place in the GS. Northern Michigan won for the Women

The MTU Men's Team took a preseason ranking of 9th in the nation into the race and showed they deserved by winning both the Slalom and Giant Slalom to take the overall event. Top finisher for MTU was Chris Dehlin with a 3rd place in the Slalom and a 2nd in the Giant Slalom.

Michigan Tech will have 4 days of training at Mont Ripley this week and then compete at Hardscrabble Mountain next weekend.

The Michigan Tech Alpine Ski Team is a club level sport at Tech but competes against many Varsity Teams in the United States Collegiate Snowsport Association.
