At the first opportunity in December or January a time trial will be held. From there the top six Women and Top 6 Men will be chosen for the travelling team. These people will pay $200 and will have their lodging, lift tickets, race fees and transportation paid for them for the 3 regular season races and all post season races.
Anyone not making the top six is welcomed to pay the $25 training fee to train with the team. They may also wish to pay the Midwest region registration fee of $45 and go to races at their own expense.
On Wednesdays during regular on hill training we will be holding time trials(if the weather co-operates)If individuals not on travel team show that they should be in the top six then they can pay the additional cost($130 and have already registered) and be one of the six that week. Anyone chronically missing on hill practice will be replaced by the 7th seed.
Anyone interrested in making travel team must attend dryland sessions and fundraisers. A total of 2 drylands per month and 1 fundraiser per month can be missed without penalty. If you can not make it to dryland because of a class, a test, or a meeting you are required to go to, you can make it up by doing a resonable activity by yourself(running, cycling, dryland like activities, swimming, aerobics or anything else that is anerobicly and aerobicly benifitial). You must let me know ahead of time that you will be missing and tell me what you intend to do as a make up. I trust that when you say you will do something that you will do it. Studying for a test is not an excuse for missing activities. you should plan enough ahead so that this is not a problem.
If you are sick or have an injury and can not make it please let me know. This will not count as a miss. If you are sick for awhile I expect you to go to the doctor. This is not for proof of injury or sickenss but because I care about each and everyone of you.
In addition to regular drylands it is important that you take the initiative to do some other activities during the week as well. Training will get progessivly more intense and injuries can occur if you havn't been getting in shape as much as you should be. Two other activities during the week is recommended. Weight training will be 7:00-8:00am every weekday. The weight room is very crowded at night and you can probably get the same workout in half the time in morning as you would at night.
A physical is required this year. Please make arrangements to have one. Please also fill in the medical information sheet I will provide.
Most announcements will only be done over email. Check your email frequently(at least once per day). It is simply too much of a drain on my time to call each person individually. The web site "http://www.me.mtu.edu/~beaupre/team.html" contains most of the information you will need. more to come....
