Study, work,
and live in the safest college town in Michigan. Perched on hills overlooking
the Portage Waterway, Houghton
and Hancock offer small-town
friendliness and enough city amenities (shopping mall, downtown businesses,
airport, etc.) to make it well-rounded.
And our Great Events enhance
life up here.

K-DayEveryone takes the afternoon off to enjoy McLain State
Park on the shores of Lake Superior, the world's largest freshwater lake.
Parade
of NationsA celebration of all the nations of the world
who have students, faculty, and staff at Michigan Tech. It ends with a
great ethnic food festival.
October
HomecomingWe put a different slant on the usual college experience:
students dress in their worst attire and parade through campus in autos
that barely run! There's a football game and various special events all
weekend long.
February
Winter CarnivalIt's
the longest-running and largest annual college winter festival. Massive
snow statues will emerge on campus and in the towns. Skits, queen competitions,
first-class entertainment, and tourists everywhere make this our greatest
event!
