Diana D. Brehob, Keynote Address

Diana D. Brehob graduated from Michigan Tech with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1978. She went on to earn an MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Diana started her career in 1986 in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Minnesota as an assistant professor in the Power and Propulsion Division.

While at Minnesota she conducted research in compression-ignition engine diagnostics and alternative fuels and in spark-ignition engine sensors. She left the university to join Ford in 1990 as a Senior Research Engineer in Powertrain Research at the Ford Research Center. She advanced to an Engineering Specialist in 1995 and a Senior Technical Specialist in 1996. In 1998 she became a Principal Engineering Specialist in Direct Injection Spark Ignition Engine Research Team at the Powertrain Research Lab. In 2000 she moved to Ford Global Technologies, LLC as a Patent Engineer and is now a Patent Specialist at Ford, having passed the patent agent exam.

Dr. Brehob has published over 30 technical papers and an inventor on more than 50 patents issued in the U.S., Japan, Germany and the U.K.

Her honors include recipient of the SAE Ralph Teetor Education Award in 1988, recipient of the Henry Ford Technical Achievement Award in 1996, and a Charter Inductee of the MTU Presidential Council of Alumnae in 1996.

While at MTU was a member of Tau Beta Pi Honorary Society, Pi Tau Sigma ME Honorary Society, SAE, Student Advisory Committee, and the Women’s Varsity Volleyball.
