Professor Edwin W. Niemi

Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering

Edwin Niemi was born in Hancock on January 13, 1917. He was a professor of mechanical engineering at Michigan Tech for 33 years  from 1941 to 1974.

He served as director of the Keweenaw Research Center from 1965 to 1974.  He was a member of the Professional Society of Automotive Engineers.

He served on the Hancock City Council, the Quincy Mine Hoist Association, and the Portage Lake Water and Sewage Authority.
