Research Focus Area: Design Dynamic Systems

Research Subject: My PhD research revolves around the areas of control oriented modeling of a Diesel engine exhaust aftertreatment system for simultaneous NOx and PM control.

Keywords: closed loop control, lean nox catalyst, catalyst dynamics, nonlinear control strategies.

Description: Lean NOx catalyst is an exhaust aftertreatment component in which the temperature can be effectively controlled to generate an effective NOx conversion. As the catalyst operates between narrow temperature zones, active temperature control strategies can be applied. To realize this, it is essentially important to study the hydrocarbon storage dynamics and the temperature dynamics in the catalyst to design a closed loop controller that can provide a stable operating pair.
