The ME-EM Graduate Program is ranked 48th nationally among doctoral granting Mechanical Engineering Departments in the U.S. by the 2009 U.S. News & World Report: America's Best Graduate Schools.
The National Science Foundation ranked the ME-EM Department 21st among all Mechanical Engineering Departments in the U.S. in Research Expenditures in FY2006 with $10.238 million.
The ME-EM UndergraduateProgram is ranked 22nd nationally among doctoral granting Mechanical Engineering Departments in the U.S. by the 2008 U.S. News & World Report: America's Best Colleges. The UndergraduateProgram is also currently 7th in the U.S. in BSME degrees granted. We have been in the top 7 in this category for the past 24 consecutive years.
The department is structured along several areas of teaching and research with heavy emphasis placed on graduate student participation in laboratory investigations, industrial projects, and interdisciplinary studies.
