A postdoctoral position is available immediately for a highly motivated individual interested in modeling and control of diesel engine aftertreatment systems. The position resides in the Mechanical Engineering - Engineering Mechanics Department of Michigan Technological University. The successful candidate will work with graduate students and other personnel participating in diesel engine research. Excellent communication skills, a publication record in aftertreatement research and a Ph.D. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, are requirements for the position.
The successful candidate will perform research, prepare proposals, write papers, and mentor graduate students. The postdoctoral scholar is expected to contribute to ongoing research in areas such as:
- Modeling aftertreatement components, including: catalyzed particulate filters (CPF), diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC), and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) devices.
- Simulating aftertreatment subsystems
- Correlating models with data
- Designing and testing active control strategies for aftertreatment systems
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
