The Partner Program is a unique volunteer organization made up of
students who maintain and manage the CAEL. Partners come from many departments
on campus. Before entering the Partner
Program these students complete a training sequence on Windows and UNIX
networking, software and hardware problem resolution, hardware maintenance,
network administration, and lab management. Once accepted into the Program, the
Partners are responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and management of the
CAEL. Some of these responsibilities include :
- Resolve software and hardware problems on UNIX and Windows workstations.
- Execute administrative duties related to the network.
- Communicate with the computing staff about hardware and software problems.
- Facilitate use of lab equipment by teaching software skills and assisting users.
- Manage and train Associate Partners.
- Determine and enforce CAEL policy.
The Partners tend to be dedicated and trustworthy, and enjoy helping others.
Each Partner volunteers at least three hours of his/her time each week to help staff
the CAEL. During the course of a shift Partners answer user questions, enforce
policies, and keep the lab clean, safe and functioning. If you would like
to join the Partner Program, please fill out the
application, or stop by the Partner Desk in the ME-EM to fill out a hard copy and ask questions.
