ENDOWED FACULTY SUPPORT: $22 MILLION

Chair Professors: $2—3 million each
Competition for exceptional academic leaders is strong. A prestigious endowed chair professor will enhance the department s ability to attract and retain professors who are outstanding, one-of-a-kind leaders in each of our five major research disciplines: Design, Dynamic Systems, Energy ThermoFluids, Manufacturing/Industrial, and Solid Mechanics.

Professors: $1—2 million each
These endowments recognize the achievements of full professors at different levels in their careers to help them meet their ongoing goals. Professorships are reserved for scholars of national or international stature with distinguished records of research, teaching and publication.

Practitioner Chairs: $2 million each
We recognize the high value of people who have worked in industry or government labs for many years and who are ready for a career change. They can pass on a wealth of experience to students and create excitement in the classroom. We want them to choose to do it at MTU. You can make it happen.

Associate Professors: $500,000 each
Being able to retain and attract high-profile associate professors who are productive researchers and extraordinary teachers is critical to our department. Actively sought by other schools who also recognize their potential, we must provide competitive investments in these future academic leaders in order to attract and retain them.

Assistant Professors: $200,000 each
Bringing the best and the brightest to MTU takes an extra measure of support. The competition is fierce. New assistant professors need early support for their research, teaching and furthering their professional development. These awards can help retain valued young faculty and support productive research by helping those who are still in the process of establishing and growing their academic reputations.

Visiting Professorships: $1 million each
Visiting professors help maintain vitality and excitement within a department while filling departmental needs arising from retirement or sabbaticals. By offering fresh perspectives and new ideas, they expose faculty and students to a broader range of thought within a discipline and can stimulate new avenues of research.
