Why did you choose Michigan Tech? My parents are both from the east end of the UP and I spent a lot of time visiting "the yoop" . During my childhood. Paul Swift earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Tech in 1933 and attended Stanford University Graduate School of Business & Engineering. After nine years of working as a corporate industrial engineer for Carnegie Steel and F.V. Gardner, he returned home to Houghton to join the family hardware business. Bob Monica attended Michigan Tech after serving in the United States Army during World War II, and in 1950 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He continued his education at Princeton University, earning a Master of Science degree in Plastics Engineering in 1952. That same year Bob began his successful career with The Dow Chemical Company as a Plastics Technical Service Engineer. . . .

Sandra received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Tech in 1978. After graduating from the University, she accepted a position with Illinois Tool Works in Des Plaines, IL. Over the next several years, she held positions at various companies, joining United Technologies Automotive in 1983 as a manufacturing engineer.
