"We want to commend Michigan Tech for providing the disciplines that allow students to equip themselves for solving problems in the work world. My desire while at Michigan Tech was to try everything available within the time available. A backward look at my career has shown that there were numerous instances where I was able to find a solution as result of some of the courses I had at Tech. "My 17 years at Chrysler and 26 years at Ford were spent in the best career in the industry. It was a very rewarding experience to be involved with ride and handling and other areas such as noise, vibration, and harshness. "At these companies, I had the good fortune to participate in the development of several special vehicles, including a camera car for Paramount Pictures at Chrysler, a presidential limousine for President Kennedy at Ford, and many other vehicles and programs. "Also at these companies, I was awarded patents on brakes, tires, shock absorbers, stabilizer bars, and suspension bushings. Some pioneering work on tire roughness generated a whole new control on tire building and testing for acceptance in the industry. "I've also had the good fortune to spend many hours with my hobbies, including building four small boats, refinishing many pieces of furniture, and designing and building five pieces of fine 100 year-old walnut furniture. "Michigan Tech helped make all of this possible. Today's financial environment and tax implications have made it easy and rewarding to establish a charitable remainder trust and give back to Michigan Tech." -Article from Michigan Tech Fund |
