A devoted supporter of Michigan Tech, Tanya J. (Wareham) Klain, 41, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, Dec. 7, from complications following recent surgery.
Klain, who received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1990, was active on the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the ME-EM Advisory Board.
Her colleague at General Motors, Terry Woychowski '78 said, "Tanya's commitment to Michigan Tech was obvious and one of her passions. We have lost a friend and supporter."
For GM, she was most recently engineering group manager, after advancing through several leadership positions. She worked in the area of body and exterior components and was also a member of GM’s university relations and recruiting team and was involved with Michigan Tech’s YES! Expo on behalf of GM.
At Tech, Klain was involved with Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and the Alpine ski club, and she kept in contact with friends from her Tech days. "Coming to Tech was the best decision I ever made," she said in a recent interview. "I owe the University a lot, pretty much everything."
Klain traveled to campus four or five times per year and was also a member of the Presidential Council of Alumnae and the ME-EM Endowment Board.
Klain received an MA from the University of Michigan in 1994, was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, and was awarded three US patents. She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Reuter, and children Samantha and Alexandra. |
